When we made the decision to only buy second hand clothes, I hadn't really considered the issue of buying underpants and bras. Occasionally we'll find plain cotton underwear in our sizes still in their packets at the op shop, and until recently that's been enough.
But the other day when PJ caught me wearing two pairs, I knew it was time to do something about it. (One pair had functional elastic at the top, and the other pair was still OK at the bottom.)
I guess we could learn to sew our own or we could go without, but this time, we bit the bullet and bought ourselves some new ones. And just in time, as I recently read that:
Police will soon have sweeping powers to search people at random, including strip-search, even if there is no reasonable suspicion those targeted have done anything wrong.

I LOVE new undies...the 100% cotton variety!! Perfect!!
Great - when you finally get strip searched for all your anti-establishment behaviour which I love - the government will finally come to realise that you weren't a threat to them - you were just a plain old pirate retired to live a peaceful life on the land - as opposed to them - a whole lot of crazy pirates intent on craziness!
If you go and seee Gemma at http://kaotickraftkuties.blogspot.com/ you can pick up her pattern for making undies outta old t-shirts! Awesome eh? I reckon if you asked nicely she could even print it on pre-used paper. :) Pick up a pattern and i will whip you up may a pirate pair for xmas!!
Not very often to be honest! I get the 3 for $10 jobs at the Daylesford market and wear them until they mysteriously disappear.... I would love to see some that you make yourselves. The best undies I brought were while travelling in china years ago, they were lime green and had a little pocket at the front with a zip! Deep in the shed there is a box with a photo of me wearing them, the day it turns up I will email you a picture.... x
I buy new undies quite regulalry actually as the day is ruined if you have fally- down ones I think. I vowed when I was at uni- and so broke -that when I was a grown up proper person ( still waiting really!!) I would never suffer again, when I got my first real job, thats what I did with my first pay packet, bought undies and bras! I think the universe will forgive you this very small indulgence, buy good quality ones and they will alst longer I think too...
ow, have to be honest here, I love new underwear, don't care about the rest that much but undies.. when my husband and I desided on a 'buy nothing new for a year.' he made me a promise that I was allowed to buy my undies new.
Making underwear out of old t-shirts like Doily said would be fun though..
check out this link here to do some making http://angrychicken.typepad.com/angry_chicken/2008/11/arm-warmers-und.html
also I often find new undies at the opshop - in Bendigo there seems to be plenty of choice xx
Thanks for your generous offer, Ms Doily. I might just have to take you up on it.
And thank you to everyone else for your words and links. xx
